David Rosa, Founding Executive Director, chairs the Ambassador & Community Outreach Committee and was born and raised in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on Chicago’s northwest side. An alumni of St. Leonard’s transitional housing program, it was David’s gratitude for the help he received there that inspired the formation of Voices for the Formerly Incarcerated in 2013. Released in 1999 after serving 25 years in prison, David worked his way up from resident and part-time desk clerk and is now the Administrator of St. Andrew’s Court, the supportive housing program of St. Leonard’s. He sits on the National Reentry Resource Committee, facilitated the Mayoral Policy Caucus on Prisoner Reentry again advocating the importance of housing, and is often a guest speaker in forums on reentry issues. David lives with his wife, Betsy, and their son on the far south side of Chicago.
